The diagram below give information about two road tunnels in one Australian city.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Model answer
The diagram describes the structure and operation of two road tunnels constructed in different periods in a city of Australia.
Overall, tunnel A was constructed far before tunnel B at a lower cost, and therefore its length, width and traffic capacity are lower. While tunnel A is to connect two parts of a city, tunnel B’s function is to lower traffic density.
Tunnel A was built in the period between 1987 and 1992, which cost 556 million dollars, to connect two parts of this city below a bridge with a thick layer of stone and sand above. The total length is 2.2 kilometers and it is 25 meters under the ground. In comparison, tunnel B’s construction occurred between 2004 and 2007, a shorter period compared to tunnel A’s, and its cost is twice as high as the former, at 1.1 billion dollars. The main purpose of building this tunnel is to reduce traffic volume by creating a new way underground, which is 3.6 kilometers long and 35 meters deep.
A similarity of these two tunnels is consisting two tubes, but tunnel B shows a higher efficiency with two lanes for cars and one for truck while tunnel A has only one lane for car and another for truck.
